MAGIC DOTS

Overview

Magic Dots is an AR storybook application which aims to provide immersive reading experience for future generations. It is a AR hackathon project hacked in 2020 MIT Reality Hackathon.

We formed a team with the same interest and created this project within three days. We've created 7 scenes inspired by the story of a storybook and then developed it by using Unity and Vuforia Engine. Finally we integrated it into the consumer-facing AR glasses, Nreal Light.

A Little More about the process

At the beginning, we formed our team by being interested in the same idea, AR immersive storytelling. Then we bought a book called Yayoi Kusama: From Here to Infinity as an example to demonstrate the potential of AR storybook experience. After that, we picked the most important scenes to build. Then, we built and animated AR content. And lastly, we developed and deployed them to the device, Nreal Light, because we believe the future platform of AR/MR will be the glasses.
